"I know clothes and I know people. In fact, I love clothes and love people." E. Gary Smith, proprietor of Menalto Cleaners, is committed to his Menlo Park neighborhood; in fact, he lives just around the corner from the cleaners. Most of his neighbors are also his customers. He knows them by name, and remembers birthdays. Customers are greeted by Smith's warm smile and infectious enthusiasm, which he replenishes with a daily 5-mile run.
In addition to his neighbors, customers come from all over the Bay Area, including referrals from Neiman Marcus, The Polo Store, and Ann Taylor.
Smith works hard to earn high ratings for Menalto Cleaners, which is listed in the Bay Area Consumer Checkbook, Vol. 7, No. 2.
